As an adviser who has specialist knowledge in dealing with contractors, I often get asked this question. It is important to make sure you are speaking to a contractor mortgage broker.
The short answer is thankfully yes. There is actually a lot of advantages to getting what I call a "contractor mortgage". Generally speaking lenders will define you as either employed or self -employed, however many lenders will have dispensations in place for contractors, especially those in the I.T sector.
With the recent increase in the last 5 years of contractors. Lenders have adapted, to look and assess these applicants more favourably. Often, all that would be required would be your current and previous contract and NO accounts or SA302s.
It is difficult for contractors who often find themselves asking where can I find mortgage advice? It is important to make sure you are speaking to a contractor mortgage broker. Thankfully I can offer independent and whole of market mortgage advice, get in touch to see how I can help.
